"Education before any Sale!" - Maurizio Bertoli of MB Stone Restoration
Maurizio Bertoli (also known as MB) is why the founders of Surface Buff entered this industry. His passion for quality, exceptional raw talent, attention to detail, and ability to educate contractors and consumers impacted many. This impact continues even after his premature passing through those who had the great pleasure of studying and apprenticing under him. MB will be greatly missed, but his passion and mission will continue forever.
Surface Buff is a female and minority owned business committed to education and advocating for consumers while ensuring they receive the high-quality project they deserve.
Many consumers face the frustrating situation of spending significant money to hire a contractor only to deal with a messy and exhausting experience. In such situations, it's common to feel helpless and not know where to turn for help.

In addition to restoration, remodeling, and maintenance services, we offer an array of client-tailored services designed to meet diverse needs.
Consultations - We provide a written report detailing our assessment of the surface under consideration. Our rate is $150.00 per hour, with additional provision for travel expenses where applicable. We offer complimentary estimates, which outline potential solutions for rectifying any issues and provide an approximate cost for undertaking the necessary repairs. Our consultations are designed to equip you with a comprehensive understanding of industry regulations and the correct installation and maintenance procedures for surfaces. It's important to note that we are not certified home inspectors or engineers; instead, our expertise lies in solid surfaces, and we have recognized the considerable demand from consumers for the insights of our specialists when dealing with improperly executed projects.
Expert witness testimony —Multiple legal offices have engaged us to address issues concerning the installation and maintenance of hard surfaces. As detailed above, this service is part of our Consultation services and is covered by the hourly Consultation rate.
Designs / Pre-Purchase Consultations - Our team provides customized design solutions and selects the most suitable products for your project, ensuring the desired aesthetics and long-term durability. Setting ourselves apart from other designers, we offer comprehensive maintenance guidance for all surfaces we design. Before investing in materials such as black granite counters, it is advisable to have our designers assess their quality to prevent any potential issues with the material. Our design fee structure is flexible, either based on hourly rates or project scope, whichever results in a lower cost for you. Furthermore, we offer free estimates, allowing for a thorough discussion and agreement on the project details.

Our company employs diamond abrasives to restore natural stone surfaces, distinguishing us from the local industry. We can achieve superior clarity and increased reflectivity post-polishing by incorporating diamonds in the grinding and honing process. Moreover, we offer comprehensive services, including cleaning, sealing, crack/chip repair, and stain removal for various natural stone surfaces such as marble, granite, travertine, slate, terrazzo, and more! We refrain from employing questionable methods like waxing or crystallization. Instead, we employ precise mechanical polishing techniques to enhance your surface, resulting in longer-lasting, healthier, and safer outcomes. This approach also facilitates easier maintenance of the surface.
Following are some the restoration services we offer and what they entail:
Grinding — a key part of our restoration process. It involves the removal of deep scratches and lippage (uneven tile edges) using a machine with diamond abrasive pads and water. This method creates no dust, ensuring a clean and efficient process.
Honing—This process removes minor scratches and wear from everyday foot traffic. It is also done by machine with diamond abrasive pads and water that creates no dust.
Polishing — Our stone polishing process will give marble, granite, travertine, terrazzo, or any other natural stone the sheen you want, enhance the veining in marble, and protect the marble or stone from everyday traffic and spills. (Utilizing the same compounds that are used in the fabricating process.)
Cleaning — To remove dirt, stains, and bacteria and to remove embedded waxes and polymers.
Sealing — is a crucial step in protecting and preserving natural stone. We Use penetrating sealers/impregnators for this purpose. After the restoration is complete, it is important to allow a 72-hour cure time before allowing any moisture to get on the restored surface. This time allows the impregnator/sealer to lock into place and perform its function effectively, ensuring the long-term preservation of your stone.
Color Enhancing — The use of penetrating sealers/impregnators formulated to enhance or enrich the color of your stone.
Stripping — To remove coatings that block the stone's ability to breathe, which causes spalling (when the stones crack, pop, and shale). Some examples of standard coatings are crystallization, janitorial waxes, polyurethane, etc.
Efflorescence Treatment — To safely remove and treat the two types of efflorescence and seal your surface to help lock the clean beauty of your surface. (Two kinds of efflorescence are: 1) Powdery: efflorescence as described above and is still gone after "Efflorescence Treatment" dries. 2) Crystalline: When powdery efflorescence goes through cycles of being deposited on the surface - dissolved when new water occurs - drying out - new water - etc., it can form crystals. The crystals become tightly bonded to the surface. The crystals do not have to be thick. A light haze still there after using "Efflorescence Treatment" will be light crystal formation and is treated as described below.)
Tile and Grout Cleaning and Sealing — Dirt loves to hide in grout. Brushes cannot penetrate the micro pores to remove all contaminants. We use a patented system to clean your grout to look new, and then we seal it to facilitate easier maintenance for the long haul. (It is crucial that after restoration is complete, you allow 72 hours of cure time before allowing any moisture to get on the restored surface to enable the impregnator to/sealer lock itself into place and do its job correctly.)

It will transform your home or building’s surface appearance with a high-quality finish and a proven maintenance plan.
